Upgrade Report:
I recommend the NextGEN Photo Gallery plugin. After literally years of trying one photo gallery script after another, I’ve been using NextGEN for eight months on a variety of websites – and I just keep getting happier and happier with it.
Example Photo Gallery
I’ve started to compile screen shots from the websites of clients I have served, and placing them within my version of NextGEN gallery as a way for people to see my work, but also as a means of demonstrating why I’m so happy with this WordPress plugin.
Adding Relevant Images Automatically
NextGEN has the option to automatically include images from your photo gallery that match the tags for each individual post.
In other words, if I write a post and tag it with the term ‘atikokan’ – wee thumbnail images from my photo gallery that are tagged ‘atikokan’ are automatically added beneath my blog post. (see below)
Great for Visitors, Great for Search Engines!
Here are the simple steps I followed:
- Add the screen shots to a gallery.
- Customize the Title and Description for each image. (Write for the reader, not the search engines)
- Customize the Tags for each picture. (use keywords that represent the content of the image)
That’s it! It’s that easy. If you have a lot of pictures from your old website to transfer over – be sure to plan time to properly label each image with a Title, Description and Tags – it’s the most vital step of all.
Your Blog is an attraction strategy to bring people to your website, and the NextGEN Gallery helps engage your visitors with your content and your marketing message.
What’s more, linking your content together with tags will help to increase the relevance of your content and thereby boost your rankings in the search engines!
