Good Upgrade Gone Bad

I’ll bet you’ve heard this saying before:

“If all else fails, read the directions.”

carcrashthumb Good Upgrade Gone BadYou really shouldn’t be driving a car with this attitude – and, well, – I should have known, it’s also the wrong attitude to have when approaching massive updates to websites!

This picture represents what I did to one of my web sites. ;-)

My Garage Door Is Open

I’ve put the ‘crashed website’ on the hoist and opened the garage door so you can follow along this weekend as I re-enter all my data, manually transfering from one database to another.

Why all the extra work?

The benefits of this website upgrade are far reaching, and the long-term marketing benefits certainly make an extra weekend of data entry well worth the time.

Adding RSS

Now including RSS Feeds from several points in our Business Directories, CanadianFishingBook.com can multiply the spread of your content, while at the same time, creating dynamic links back to your listings.

This provides more places where the search engine spiders can find your new content and also increases the relivancy of your main site, thus helping to boost your rankings in the search engines.

Ok – time to put the coffee on.
