Tourism Marketing Case Study Update

by Doug on January 10, 2008

Using the public online source www.marketleap.com, I’ve been tracking the number of pages that are indexed in the search engines.  From the project notes in September:

The CanadianFishingBook.com series offers an EXCLUSIVE OPPORTUNITY for Northwestern Ontario Tourism Businesses to gain HUGE exposure and branding as CANADA’S premiere fishing location!

The growth spruts in the number of pages indexed by the search engines is a direct result of planned additions to the websites, followed by systematic blogging, press releases, social networking and social bookmarking.

The results are impressive!

Currently, the CanadianFishingBook.com series of websites include a Directory of nearly 700 Fishing Lodges and Resorts, and a Listing of over 120 Sport Shows occuring throughout the Upper Midwest US during January, February and March of 2008.

Backed by a host of online real-estate, we’ve been able to systematically DOMINATE most of the top 10 rankings for the phrases we’ve aimed for!

Yikes – I don’t know if you get the same results as I do, but here’s the real All Canada Show Information - hey Joel, wanna buy an ad on my sites?  I’m not JUST targeting your Sport Shows for 2008 – I’m walking my way through a BIG LIST of 2008 Sport Shows and acting as a Virtual Reporter as part of my Web 2.0 Tourism Marketing Case Study

My goal is to gain the investor backing to do this project on a Gigantic scale next year.

This year – the proof is in the putting.  (or is that ‘the proof is in the pudding?’)

And the results are ROLLING in!

It took 3 or 4 days for the 800 page update to each site to be indexed. Once they were available for search in Google, I ran a WebPosition Report on about 1/3 of the Lodge Names that are included in the Directory.  My sample was pulled from the Lodge Listings under Atikokan (I’m biased), Kenora, Red Lake, Sioux Lookout and a few other samples.  In total I captured 263 business names for analysis.

The scans took hours.

And the results are fantastic!
