Tourism Marketing Using Social Media

Travel and Tourism is all about connections.

That’s why word-of-mouth is still the best advertising your Tourism business can get.

New Social Media tools make the most of testimonials and recommendations -
Set Your Word-Of-Mouth On FIRE!

In the Travel and Tourism Industry, Word-of-Mouth, or a recommendation from a trusted friend who shares their experience, is still the most powerful factor that helps people determine where they will go for a vacation.

With Social Media, it’s easy to share your life and experiences with dozens, even hundreds of your friends – all at once. In other words, 5 years ago, if a guest enjoyed their vacation with you, they told several of their buddies at work and on the golf course.

Today, if someone enjoys their trip, they can post a note, picture or video that ALL of their friends can see. More importantly, if one friend comments on the note, all of THEIR friends can also read the note.

Keep in mind that many of these notes, images and conversations will remain viewable for several years to come – and you can see how much more powerful the Social Media is, compared to simple word-of-mouth.

If you are in the Travel and Tourism Business and you already have a website – then you are ready to finally start using the Internet as more than a place to post your brochure. It’s not as hard as you might think, to start using the Internet as a Relationship Management tool, rather than a marketing tool.
